Dan Petley is a prolific, independent international artist based in Bulgaria and the UK, who possesses an eclectic yet focused ensemble of abilities. Throughout his productive career he has mainly focused on creating paintings that are displayed as relics; exploring the progressive cultural role of established masterpieces, an embodiment of his relationship with the history of painting. He often uses discarded objects and architecture to explore notions of shared association and ownership with items and places.
The intention of his Numinous series (2012-present) is to reconcile paintings as objects with divine power by meditating on their devolved roles, as public and private property, album covers and souvenirs.
